Automated Risk Assessment for School Violence Prevention Study

Automated Risk Assessment for School Violence Prevention Study

This study is no longer recruiting participants.

Purpose:

A study where we interview and audio record children and teens experiencing behavioral and emotional concerns. The recording is processed through an AI program which looks for keywords. This technology can help determine a student’s risk level for potential violence. In this study, we want to identify risk (“red flags”) and protective factors in human language that are related to school violence and safety and is one of several studies being conducted by UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.

The objective of our study is to develop a natural language processing (NLP) algorithm-based computer software to analyze student interviews and improve compliance with suggested actions in preventing school violence.
