Longitudinal Phenotyping of Bipolar Disorder (BDLONG) Study

This study is no longer recruiting. 

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to test individual differences in mood switches and whether functional brain networks show changes over time in mood, energy, and sleep. 

Who can participate: We are looking for adolescents and young adults...

  • Between 13 and 30 years old
  • Diagnosed with bipolar disorder
  • Have had at least one episode of depression and at least one hypomanic, manic, or mixed episode in the past year
  • Have access to a smartphone daily

What does the study involve:

  • Initial psychiatric assessment
  • 4-6 fMRI brain scans
  • Mood monitoring via weekly questionnaires
  • Activity watch in the first two weeks
  • Passive sensing via an app to capture real-time collection of various types of data such as phone usage and ambient light

Due to COVID-19, we are conducting assessments online. Participants will need to have internet access.
